Gap year travel insurance

The Gap Year has fast become a significant part of the adolescent journey, slotting between that space left between the end of school and university. It now seems that the Gap Year has a place on the CV as any good qualification, and it’s often a better-rounded individual who starts university with a few months travel and adventure under their belt.

This kind of adventure is one that most certainly needs to be insured, especially with the Gap Year growing in popularity, and the destinations becoming more far away. As travellers share their trips and their tales, the urge to try new places and packages is very appealing.

Destinations have been pushed farther away, to more secluded spots and remote villages where there is little contact with the outside world, few main roads leading to hospitals and police stations, and little in the way of phones. There lies the thrill of course; to get away you have to end up in the middle of nowhere.

The parental concern between wanting to keep children at home and safe from harm is a natural one, yet no parent really wants to hold their child back from the journey of a lifetime. One of the things you can do is to get a good travel insurance, which will cover everything from lost luggage to medical attention should anything go wrong. The better your travel insurance, the cheaper the care will be. It is unlikely that a Gap Year traveller will end up in dire straits, but the cost of sorting them out in the back of beyond could cost a shocking amount if you’re not prepared.

You should also do some shopping around to get the best deal, and Travel Supermarket can make your search for the best travel insurance very quickly. However, comparison websites don’t always quote the best deals, so it is recommended that you shop around for the best deals. Two providers are AA's backpacking travel insurance package, and Go Travel’s travel insurance. Both give a good range of cover.
