Chalet Hosts Position

Location:  Chalet Le Passeu, Moulin, Les Arcs, Paradiski, France The chalet is a luxury chalet, 3 minutes from the slopes and lifts and has a maximum guest capacity of 16 although usually guest numbers will not exceed 12.  The chalet has been newly renovated to a high standard.

Employment Dates:  3rd December 2008 to 22^nd April 2009 (dates may be subject to slight change)

Job Description Role 1 

•  Meeting and greeting guests on arrival and helping them with any queries and general questions.
•  Creating a weekly menu to include breakfast, afternoon tea and a 4 course evening meal 6 days a week. (including cheese course) Canapés will also be served at least one night per week.
• Daily preparing, serving and clearing of breakfast and of a four course evening meal (starter, main, dessert & coffee/cheeseboard/chocolates).
• Daily baking of cakes/biscuits, setting up and clearing afternoon tea.
• Interaction with chalet guests throughout their holiday.
• Daily cleaning & tidying of chalet (lounge, public areas, kitchen & making beds).
• Cleaning of ensuite bathrooms on change over day and once mid week.
• Weekly stock take and shop for chalet food/cleaning materials within a given budget.
• Cleaning of chalet every ‘changeover day’, readying for the arrival of new guests.
• Maintaining all health, safety and hygiene regulations
• Any other directed duties as necessary to enable the smooth running of White Horizon Chalets.

• Meeting and greeting guests on arrival and helping them with any queries and general questions.
• Driving of company minibus to shuttle guests to lifts and slopes (a 3 minute drive). Between 08.45 and 09.30 and 16.00 and 17.15.
• Mountain Hosting (taking guests to ski shop to hire skis & boots, and to lift pass office for lift passes.  This role does not include ski guiding so your mountain time is your own).
• Being responsible for the immediate reporting and resolution of all relevant maintenance problems
• Daily cleaning and tidying of chalet (lounge, public areas, kitchen & making beds).
• Assisting in preparation, serving, clearing and washing up of meals
• Interaction with chalet guests throughout their holiday.
• Cleaning of chalet every ‘changeover day’, readying for the arrival of new guests.
• Liaising with the directors to ensure standards of guest satisfaction are met.
• Keeping access paths and steps free of snow and ice at all times
• Any other directed duties as necessary to enable the smooth running of White Horizon Chalets.

 The roles have a degree of overlapping in that you would be a team, working the same hours and helping each other to provide a high level of service.  This is how we know it works but the roles are not set in stone, as long as all the above are completed and there is a clear structure, roles can be interchangeable.One day off is given per week (the same day for both hosts) where no duties are expected.  

Remuneration Package 

• Accommodation in a private twin room with ensuite shower room, located in Chalet Le Passeu.
• No bills
• All meals, taken at Chalet.
• Season Paradiski (full area Les Arcs & La Plagne) Lift Pass.
• Return Travel between UK and Les Arcs.
• Competitive monthly salary + benefits  (paid monthly in £ sterling into UK bank account).

You must be an EU passport holder. You will have a British bank account and permanent UK National Insurance number. For both positions we require you to have a clean driving license and be aged over 21 (this is for vehicle insurance purposes in France) A cooking qualification or proof of professional cooking experience is preferred and conversational French is ideal.

White Horizon Chalets is an independent chalet company based in Tignes and Les Arcs, France.  It is owned and run by us, Jamie and Gayle.  We started the company in 2004 running 1 chalet in Tignes Les Brevieres.  We now run 5 chalets in two world class ski resorts offering an exceptional friendly, professional and personal service.

We are looking to recruit a ‘Chalet Couple’ to run a beautiful newly renovated chalet in Les Arcs.  This is a great opportunity for an independent, mature, motivated and hard working couple to enjoy mountain life in a top ski resort.  If you are the right couple for our company you will effectively be your own bosses as we are looking for a couple who do not need continual managing or motivating.  We seek a couple who we will develop mutual trust and respect with and for whom we would be available for support when wanted or needed. We will provide you with the necessary pre season training to get up to speed and so you know how to run the chalet to our (and your) high standards. 

Les Arcs is part of the massive Paradiski ski area and the chalet is situated at the heart of this in a small hamlet in Peisey Nancroix. Chalet Le Passeu will suit a couple whose priority is leading a healthy active lifestyle and enjoy cosy nights in and friendly local bars/restaurants 5 minutes walk from the chalet, rather than a couple who prefer a big resort with big après ski partying.  A passion for food and a flair for cooking is a must and prior experience in the catering/hospitality industry would be a bonus.
