About Home Fundraising

Working all over the country, we are the UK’s most established door-to-door fundraising specialists. Major charities call on our expertise to recruit supporters on their behalf. It’s the most cost-effective method for charities to gain long term donors who are happy to sign up to direct debits (far superior to advertising and direct mail). Charities like these monthly direct debits as they’re able to plan for the future with a clear idea of what their income will be. Finally, supporters recruited by fundraisers tend to be the most committed to specific causes.

The company itself is a vibrant, open organisation that believes passionately in the causes we support. At the same time, we don’t take ourselves too seriously – we want you to enjoy being part of our team.

The Role

Fundraisers always work in teams representing one specific charity at a time. Each day, you go out together to assigned post code areas and start knocking on doors.

Sometimes there’s no-one in. Sometimes, the person who answers will make an excuse and close the door on you. But often you’ll get a conversation going. Then, it’s your job to bring the work of the charity to life and explain how valuable the person’s support will be. Your goal is to inspire commitment to your cause, so that a new donor wants to sign up.

There’s no denying that the job is a challenge – not everyone has the self-confidence and stamina to ignore the rejections and move on to the next door with a big smile on their face. But if you’ve got plenty of passion and enthusiasm, it’s one of the most rewarding roles around.

We do provide expert training (regarded as the best in the business) and equip you with a host of tried and tested techniques to make your job a little easier. There’s also lots of support and advice available from your colleagues, team leaders and managers.

Your Profile

You don’t need any specific qualifications or experience to become a fundraiser. You just need to be friendly, outgoing and a great conversationalist who’s happy to talk to anybody and everybody about the worth of supporting good causes.

Age is unimportant too (you must be 18+), eighteen year olds can make great fundraisers, as can people in their sixties. It’s your attitude, passion and enthusiasm that count.

One important thing: You must live within easy travelling distance of the city where your local regional team is based – each day you meet your team at any one of a number of locations in the area.

Starting Work

Our paid training sessions run weekly, so if you impress us at interview you can often start working with us the following week. Of course if you have a notice period to work out or immediate commitments, then we can arrange training and induction at a later date in the future.
