Seasonal, temporary & holiday jobs in Scotland
Scotland is a well-developed tourist destination with attractions ranging from unspoilt
countryside, mountains and abundant history. Tourism is responsible for sustaining
200,000 jobs mainly in the service sector, so there is lots of scope for temp jobs
in Scottish tourism.
The large centres for hospitality jobs are Glasgow and Edinburgh where there are
thousands of bars, conference centres, hotels, restaurants and attractions. The
Scottish Highlands and Islands also provide much tourism work on the ferries, golf
courses and catering & accommodation facilities. The service sector in general is
the largest job sector in Scotland these days but there are also many job opportunities
in agriculture as seasonal staff are required every year.

Barley, wheat and potatoes are grown in eastern parts of Scotland such as Fife and
the Scottish Borders. The Tayside and Angus area is a centre of production of soft
fruits such as strawberries, raspberries and loganberries, providing lots of seasonal
picking work.
Scotland, along with Wales Northern Ireland and England, is part of the UK so British
Work Permit rules apply.
All jobs in the United Kingdom require you to have the proper permissions to work here. If you are resident (or studying) in the UK, or you have an EU passport, you do not have to seek permission to work in the UK. If this is not the case we have created a work permits and visas section. For the UK we teamed up with the UK Visa Bureau – they help arrange working holiday visas and, if you have British ancestry, they will help you get a UK ancestry visa.
A point worth noting - If your employer puts you straight onto an emergency tax code, then you may be entitled to a tax refund when you finish work.
