Blackpool - Seasonal, hospitality & holiday jobs
Blackpool, along with Brighton and even maybe Skegness, is Englands most famous beach resort, it is certainly the most visited (biggest resort in Europe believe it or not!) Situated on one of the windiest and wettest coastlines in Europe you have to wonder why! The reason Blackpool has maintained its status and massive popularity since Victorian times is largely due to the town changing rapidly with demand. Gone are the days of lots of families drinking tea in the botanical gardens, these are the days of flashy shows, stag and hen parties and lots of indoor attractions – that you pay for. All this, along with the famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach, adds up to lots of customer service and seasonal jobs to choose from.
The other thing about jobs in Blackpool is that the season is a lot longer than most resort towns in the UK, and Europe for that matter. Easter holidays, the summer and then the ice shows and the illuminations all create jobs in Blackpool for a good 10 months of the year. Then of course there is Christmas where all the bars fill with works do’s and Christmas shoppers from the North of England and Scotland.
The main seasonal jobs providers in Blackpool are the Winter Gardens, Piers, Pleasure Beach, Sea Life Centre, Tussauds, Blackpool Tower & Circus, Opera House and there are thousands of bar jobs in Blackpool with most of the major chains and some well known pubs and clubs such as Linekers.
Other jobs are available in building cleaning, sales (all sorts of things are for sale in the season in Blackpool!), ride attendant jobs, park and street cleaning, pool jobs (see the Sandcastle complex), stage hands (see the Opera House) and there are loads and loads of security jobs in the season.
If you are just returning from a successful season repping or working in a bar overseas Blackpool is the ideal town to further a career in tourism management. The Blackpool and Fylde College also does nationally renowned qualifications in Hospitality including repping, casino and childrens rep courses.
All jobs in the United Kingdom require you to have the proper permissions to work here. If you are resident (or studying) in the UK, or you have an EU passport, you do not have to seek permission to work in the UK. If this is not the case we have created a work permits and visas section. For the UK we teamed up with the UK Visa Bureau – they help arrange working holiday visas and, if you have British ancestry, they will help you get a UK ancestry visa.
A point worth noting - If your employer puts you straight onto an emergency tax code, then you may be entitled to a tax refund when you finish work.
